This adventure takes you from war-torn earth to the moon as Mega Man, Zero, and Axl fight to stop Sigma's treacherous plan against mankind. Starring MEGA MAN and allies ZERO and AXL, all new "X" saga is an all new action-adventure packed wit more features, depth and variety than the series has ever seen. MEGA MAN HAS A NEW TEAM TO TAKE ON THE WORLD The player is able to control X, Axl, and Zero, which are distinguished by their gameplay style: X is able to equip body parts and armor, Axl specializes in guns and can also hover and glide in the air, while Zero focuses on short-range attacks. However, they will also have to deal with familiar enemies from the past.Īs in classic Mega Man games, the player is free to tackle the levels in any order, and must defeat a boss at the end of each. The team of Maverick Hunters, composed of X, Axl, and Zero, must pursue the abductors and find what they were truly after. Soon thereafter, Lumine was kidnapped by unknown assailants. A Reploid named Lumine was put in charge of the project. In the late 22nd century, humans have commenced a construction of an orbital elevator to the Moon.
In addition to the side-scrolling platform levels, some boss fights and other events are played from alternate perspectives. Other defeated enemies may leave behind metal bits, which can be collected and used to create custom power-ups. As in most games in the long-running Mega Man series, defeating a boss character earns the ability to use its special weapon. Players can switch between two characters in the heat of battle, to solve a platform puzzle or fend of a particular enemy type, and the two characters not controlled by the player will try to help out in combat if the leading character becomes overwhelmed.Ĭharacters not controlled by the player recover more quickly when the hero onscreen is performing well. Mega Man X is joined in this adventure by two close associates, Zero and Axle, and each character has different strengths and abilities. Like its immediate predecessor, Megaman X8 presents its 2D-style platform-shooter action in a 3D game world.
